Tiny little holes in the flower bed or on the roadside are not an uncommon phenomenon. Because bees and many other insects feel comfortable in a wide variety of habitats. Dead or rotten wood, hollow plant stems, empty snail shells or sandy soil are popular. Alone 50% of the approximately 700 wild bee species living in Austria nest in the ground and use existing cavities, nest in foreign nests or gnaw their tunnels themselves.

Insects are of enormous importance for a functioning ecosystem and ultimately also for human nutrition. Like no other professional group, our WOERLE farmers are aware that they pay attention to the preservation of natural resources and biological diversity in their daily agricultural work.









WOERLE farmers as active living space designers
After our WOERLE farmers started creating additional underground nesting sites for wild bees & Co in spring 2020, this year we were able to recruit the young farmers of the HBLA Ursprung motivate you to take part in our project. Here are some examples:
