Agroforestry systems not only support biodiversity, but are also a measure for more climate resilience in agriculture. In the spring of 2021, we therefore jointly with the HBLA Ursprung we planted our research hedge on the school's agricultural site in order to document the effects on nature and climate as well as the benefits for grassland farming over the next few years.
Since some plants were not available in the spring, the 320 m long research hedge was now supplemented with additional shrubs as part of the school lessons. In October, the hard-working agricultural students, under the expert guidance of HBLA forestry teacher Franz Keil, planted, for example, the common buckthorn, creepers, the red hedge church and many other local varieties.
