"Awfully" good Halloween finger food ideas with cheese

When on the evening of October 31st little ghosts, witches and magic fairies go from door to door demanding “trick or treat”, then it is Halloween.

Contrary to popular belief, the horror festival does not come from the USA, but goes back to a Celtic custom. The Irish celebrated the end of summer and the beginning of winter at the "Samhain" festival of the dead. They believed that the gates to the underworld would be open tonight. To trick death, they disguised themselves as if they were dead, and to appease the spirits they placed small offerings in front of their houses. When many Irish emigrated to America, the custom spread there.

All Hollow's Evening

The name goes back to the All Saints' Day of the Catholics, which means "All Hallows" in English. Accordingly, the eve is called "All Hallows Evening", Halloween for short.

Today Halloween is also celebrated in Austria. Children especially love to hollow out pumpkins and dress up. How about surprising your kids with a party after their Halloween round? We've collected a bunch of "creepy" recipes - with cheese, of course - that just taste "awfully" good.

And so that the little ghosts, witches and fairies don't stay thirsty, there are of course the right scary drinks: dragon's blood cocktails (blood orange juice), eyeball punch (cherry juice with a lychee fruit, filled with a blueberry) and witches' tea (apple juice with black food coloring ). Of course, ketchup shouldn't be missing either: Fill the ketchup "blood" into large syringes and serve the syringes in drinking glasses.

Now only the Halloween decorations are missing: Painted pumpkins, plastic spiders on white threads, black candles and ghost garlands give you goosebumps.

We wish you many spooky moments!
