"WOERLE continues to work"...
...for a future suitable for grandchildren for the benefit of people, animals, the environment and the necessary economy, as the basis for natural cheese quality. 130 years of WOERLE mean 130 years of cooperation with the dairy farmers in the region. With their daily work, our approximately 500 farming families make an important contribution to the preservation of nature. Thanks to the near-natural hay farming, local habitats are maintained and resources are conserved.
Our "WOERLE continues to work" program includes coordinated measures in the areas of biodiversity, animal welfare, climate and resource protection, soil health and social issues. Because we are convinced that healthy cows, strong farming families and an intact environment are the prerequisites for high-quality and healthy cheese specialties. With WOERLE hay milk specialties, you not only support the valuable work of our WOERLE farming families, but also the preservation of regional agriculture.

biodiversity
WOERLE promotes biodiversity in the region!
- To preserve local cultural landscapes
- To create habitat for wild animal and plant species
- To ensure a sustainable food supply
Our flagship project "Biodiversity in Farmers' Hands"
We secure bees, many other insects and small animals vital food resources and indispensable habitats, because species protection and agriculture are not opposites, but are inextricably linked. With this project, the WOERLE farming families want to be a role model and also motivate consumers to consciously appreciate and protect nature.
Because each individual can do a lot for biodiversity. Together with the farming families and consumers, we have set ourselves the goal of creating at least 2030 closely networked "life rafts for biodiversity" in Austria's unique hay milk region of Flachgau and Mondseeland and beyond by 1.000.

Recycling
WOERLE is committed to circular economy!
- For more sustainability
- To protect the environment
- Resealable as usual for product storage
Our packaging trays are now made from 100% recycled material.
Every gram counts - with recycled PET to a more sustainable environmental compatibility. For us, recycled PET is a building block, in the medium and long term out of respect for our nature, to protect natural resources and to use them sparingly. Our cheese and nature like it!

Regional CO2-reduced
WOERLE supports regional CO2-Avoidance!
- To lower the CO2-footprint of our cheese
- To the CO2-Avoidance and compensation on site
- To create value in the region for the region
The reduction of CO2emissions is the order of the day.
At the same time, our small-scale farms are under enormous economic pressure. Climate protection measures that are effective in the long term often mean larger investments. In the reduction of CO2emissions, we consciously go our own way. We process fresh milk from farms within a radius of around 50 km for the cheese dairy and it is important to us to avoid and compensate emissions where they occur.
With the construction of a photovoltaic system on the approximately 5.000 m² roof area and with the use of rainwater to cool the production and buildings, we are setting a good example at our location. In terms of agriculture suitable for grandchildren, we support our dairy farmers with € 50 per tonne of CO saved2. With many small steps, the CO2-Footprint of WOERLE cheese specialties reduced regionally.

cow welfare
WOERLE cares about animal welfare!
- Species-appropriate feeding: fresh grass and herbs in summer and hay in winter
- Personal human-animal relationship
- 120 days expiration
Cow welfare initiative by Arge Heumilch
With an average of less than 25 cows per farm, our small-scale dairy farms maintain an individual and personal relationship with the animals. And that is important - because the well-being of the animals has the highest priority for our hay milk farmers. With the hay milk cow well-being initiative, additional measures were therefore defined in the hay milk regulation that go beyond the legal provisions.
