Introducing Jan
Today we introduce you to Jan Steindl. Jan is fascinated by working with milk and is happy to work for a regional family business. He started as an apprentice at WOERLE and is now the shift manager at the melting plant.
How long have you been working at WOERLE?
In 2012 I started my apprenticeship in the cheese dairy, then did the master class and then worked in the cheese dairy for a while. I've been working in the smelting works for about four years now.
What tasks are you responsible for and what does your typical daily routine look like?
I have many different areas of responsibility, from personnel planning to production planning, maintenance and troubleshooting to raw material control.
How does your perfect working day start?
I assign people to work in shifts, do a tour and check all the settings. I'm particularly pleased when I've been able to fix an error or identify a source of interference.
What is exciting about your job?
Because it's so diverse.
What has been your best experience at WOERLE so far?
My most beautiful experience is also linked to a tragic event. When there was a fire in the company last year, we all helped clear the building. It was a very intense day, which was also my birthday. When about 60 colleagues suddenly serenaded me, it was a really nice moment.
You work in Henndorf, not far from Wallersee. What makes this area special from your point of view?
It is a very special environment, very rural, everything is green, you are directly connected to nature, you are not constantly stuck in traffic. A completely different workplace than working in an industrial area.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I train on my road bike five to six times a week, and I also love bouldering and rope climbing.
If you had to go to a desert island, what three cheeses would you take with you?
WOERLE mountain cheese, WOERLE Mondseer and parmesan.
Can you tell us your favorite cheese recipe?
Cheese spaetzle with mountain cheese. Or lasagne with Emmental on top.
If you could only use one emoji for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Road Bike Emoji🚴♂️

A day without cheese is...
… bearable for once, but at most for a day.
